What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

” Cinderella should wear her dancing shoes. “

The Heading of my post,is the advice I received from my sis-in-law in Pune.It kind of stuck with me and I started looking at myself in a different light.

Before,I got married,I was known to be a go-getter. My father allowed me to do mistakes. He often said “Mistakes are what make you. You shouldn’t be afraid of failure.” But when I got married,under my new responsibilities and new roles,I kind of lost touch with who I was as a person.

That fortunate day,when my sis in law came visiting, she saw me struggling to be a perfect super woman,juggling my little baby’s responsibilities, household chores. She was surprised to see me like this.

While leaving she said,Dear,  “Cinderella should wear her dancing shoes.” It was after Cinderella wore her shoes,was she changed into a princess for the prince to notice her [ You have to come out of your cocoon, for the world to notice you.] My sis in law told me I just needed to be myself, true to myself, not forget who I was and not to forget my potential.

That day forward,I started giving time to myself, took up my studies once again, aced it,became a lecturer, translated my love of cooking into blogging,all while still handling my responsibilities.

But that advice,changed the way I was treating myself. I learnt to make room to give myself time too.

So,an advice I would like to pass down “Be yourself. The world will adjust ” And hey, ” DON’T FORGET TO WEAR YOUR DANCING SHOES” ✨️
