The inspiration behind this blog are my young subscribers, who have started going to gym recently. One of the subscribers asked me,mam gymwala chicken recipe share Karo,and I thought it would be a wonderful way to acknowledge the  trust they have in me by just not sharing the recipe  but also naming the recipe just the way it was said. BUT before sharing the recipes, some things to consider  if you have recently started going to gym.

  • FEW THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE JOINING THE GYM :
  • Your fitness goals:
  • You should define your objectives for joining the gym for example is it weight loss or weight gain,muscle gain or just general fitness.
  • The facilities provided by the gym,the distance to travel.
  • Basic amenities
  • How have you started your warm up sessions to prepare yourself for the workouts.
  • Your basic fitness assessment done by your family physician to rule out any problems later.

  • WHAT TO EAT BEFORE YOU GO TO THE GYM :
  • You have to eat well before you go to the gym, so the basic question asked is WHAT? A simple energy bar,a banana or an apple for that matter any fruit of your choice, Yogurt, Homemade smoothies,crackers, fruit juices or even a simple peanut butter sandwich will do.
  • ESSENTIAL TO CARRY FOR THE GYM :
  • Right pair of shoes, extra slippers, your work out clothes, water bottle, snacks,microfiber towels, cleaning wipes,grip gloves, deodorant (You shouldn’t smell like sweat- when you are out😄) , A good face wash and a wide toothed comb as your hair become sweaty and difficult to comb with a normal one. For girls or women  carrying a headband, hairband would be a great idea to avoid the hair coming in the eyes or over the face  making it unnecessary discomfort .
  • WHAT TO EAT AFTER COMING FROM THE GYM :
  • Banana, boiled eggs, snacks with cheese, dry fruits would be a wonderful way to Nourish your body after workout.
  • WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU STOP GOING TO GYM AFTER A WHILE :
  • Many youngsters are joining the gym in their exam break,but very few will be able to continue for a long sustained period, partly because once when colleges reopen, schooling starts it becomes quite difficult to maintain the schedule hence,many out of compulsion or time constraints drop out.
  • Some things to know what happens if you stop going to gym :
  • 1. Muscle loss and strength  reduction  : This means you feel weak and your simple everyday tasks,daily activities  become difficult and cumbersome
  • 2. Weight Gain : The minute you stop going to gym,your metabolism slows down,without regular exercises you start gaining weight very quickly ( For some they gain more weight then they actually lost) Especially around the abdomen.
  • 3. Mood and Energy levels : As the endorphins reduces without your workout, you start having mood swings,lethargy,lower levels of energy and a general feeling of being tired,depressed or not feeling motivated to do anything.
  • 4. Psychological/ Physical changes  : Your body’s ability to cope up with these changes can cause problems with your heart rate,blood pressure, cholesterol or your ability to think clearly due to mood swings( Take proper advice from your family physician or doctor)
  • THINGS TO CONSIDER :
  • Many of these changes are reversible, once you start exercising again, they diminish yet you would like to consider factors like your age,health genetics, history of any illness in the family especially as teenagers it’s important to take all these things into consideration.
  • AS PARENTS  : Teenagers are often prone to overdo things especially due to peer pressure, need to prove themselves, to feel good about their looks. AS parents it would be good if you keep a watch and guide your children regarding how much they should exercise, draw restraint, as over exercising just like being over weight is the cause of heart diseases, along with psychological effects.

Gymwala chicken recipe is an easy to make, simple and quick recipe which powers up your workouts with it’s lean proteins,complex carbs and healthy fats designed to support muscle growth and recovery, So get fit and healthy munching on the healthiest snack.

Ingredients

  • Chicken Breasts (skinless and boneless) : 4

  • Lemons : 2 ( squeezed and juice removed )

  • Olive oil or vegetable oil : 2 tablespoon

  • Coriander : 1 tablespoon

  • Mint : 1 tablespoon

  • Cabbage : 2 tablespoon (sliced or thinly shredded)

  • Rosemary (Optional) : 1 tablespoon if easily available

  • Black pepper powder: According to taste freshly grounded

  • Salt : To taste.

  • Green chilies or Red chili flakes : If you need heat to your recipe according to your taste

Directions

  • Marinate : In a bowl, mix all of the herbs add olive oil,salt and pepper,lemon juice and chilies if you want to add heat to the dish.
  • Clean the chicken thoroughly and cut bite-sized pieces or you can keep the entire breast piece intact
  • Coat the chicken with the above marinated mix,keep it covered for 10 minutes.
  • Place the marinated chicken pieces on the grill cook from both sides till tender,crisp and golden brown. (For those who do not have grill can shallow fry in a skillet. )
  • Add some more lemon juice at the top,eat fresh.

Notes

  • For my vegetarian friends, Chicken can be easily replaced with Tofu or paneer.
  • Along with Chicken you can also add boiled eggs, cut into bite-sized pieces.
  • Vegetables can be interchanged with those that are easily available in your fridge or those of your choice and taste like you can add mushrooms, avocado, arugula or broccoli, to this basic recipe. To make this recipe vegetarian or vegan.
